Abstract

This paper aims to present the experience of training in health management carried out through a partnership between Brazil’s Navy and the Sergio Arouca National School of Public Health, from the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation. It’s about a distance learning course, with a curricular matrix composed of eight learning units and based on the constructivist conception. It adopts Evidence-Based Management as a transversal concept and the Intervention Project (IP) as a course conclusion work with a view to implementing an opportunity for improvement identified in the workplace and in the scope of student governability. In the period of five years, 198 officers were formed. The analysis of the IPs revealed that the most worked topics were Health Operations and Resources Management (51%) and Health Quality Management (39.4%). The vast majority of IP were implemented (76.8%) during the course. In the assessment carried out by the students, 98.7% recommend the course to someone else. It is understood that the teaching and learning strategy applied enhances the critical and reflective interpretation of the challenges of health management.
