The organization of nursing teaching in the military contexts.
Abstract
The purpose of this qualitative study was to discuss the work organization of nursing instructors, both civilian and military, who taught and trained nurse practitioners at the intermediate-level education, in a military context. Method: the research was conducted at a military hospital in Rio de Janeiro, with 20 civilian and military nursing instructors, by using the content analysis. Results: the results showed that 65% of them were between 25 and 34 years old, of which 85% were women, and the majority was in the military (55%). The statements provided by the subjects were taken into account to define the category: The military context outlined the planning characteristics and the interpersonal relationship in the nursing faculty work environment. Discussion: it has been noted the interference of the military context in the organization of the nursing faculty work. The following factors were identified: discipline, hierarchy, interpersonal relationship and planning. Conclusions: in this context, knowing how work is organized is an asset to institutional management seeking excellence in the teaching process, as well as quality improvement in the work environment.
