JUST FOR YOU TO UNDERSTAND THAT IT'S NO LONGER A RIVER... NOW IT'S THE SEA!”. A COMPREHENSIVE ETHNO-ECOLOGICAL APPROACH TO SOCIO-ENVIRONMENTAL CONFLICTS IN SWIMMING CRAB FISHING IN THE BAÍA DE IGUAPE EXTRACTIVE RESERVE (BAHIA
Uma abordagem etnoecológica abrangente dos conflitos socioambientais na pesca de siris da Reserva Extrativista Baía de Iguape (Bahia).
Abstract
Artisanal fishing corresponds to almost all fishing activity in Bahia state, being carried out in the open sea, in coral reefs or in estuaries, where mangroves occur. In the Marine Extractive Reserve Baía de Iguape, this type of fishing covers the collection/capture of molluscs and crustaceans, among the latter, swimming crabs stand out. The progressive advance of the developmental vision, based on the indiscriminate use of resources and natural spaces, has been creating numerous difficulties for the survival of local extractivists. From the perspective of Ethnoecology, the results revealed that the interviewed fishermen have a critical perception about socio-environmental conflicts that involve the operation of a hydroelectric plant, the construction of a naval shipyard in areas neighboring the RESEX and even overfishing of crabs.
